Aister ‘oo’ – Holsas

Visitors to our beautiful Shetland Islands will know that every few years we have a ‘heather year’.

Heather grows abundantly in Shetland and every 7 years or so, our hills become alive with the stunning and particularly vibrant purple of the heather when it is in full bloom.

We’ve called this heathery colour ‘Holsas’ after one of our Nortower Lodges, which in turn was named after an area of our peatland where our family has worked with our native Shetland sheep for 100’s of years!
