We had a lovely stay here, it has been a cosy and comfortable lodge.  The views were wonderful.

So much to see and do.  Highlights included Sumburgh Head & Jarlshof, St Ninian’s Isle cliff walk, Golf on Whalsay, Papa Stour, Mousa & Noss.

    Thanks very much.

    The Murphy’s, Edinburgh – 6th to 14th July

  • Our second holiday staying here and it felt like coming back home.  Boitan is a well equipped lodge and for us it is simply “peace and quiet” with a wonderful view.  We had better weather than last year and as a result, more walking opportunities.  Jacqueline is totally refreshed after a fortnight in peaceful Shetland and whilst not looking forward to going home to work, is a bit better prepared.  We look forward to returning in the future but that is looking to be in 2020 as Boitan will be “off the market” until then.

Thank you for more wonderful memories.

    Derek & Jacqueline Jones – Tyldesley, Lancs – 16th to 30th June

  • Very comfortable stay in this well equipped lodge.  Central for exploring Shetland and other Isles.  An amazing holiday seeing so much wildlife and lovely remote beaches. Very relaxing way of life.

Two main aims were to see Puffins & Shetland Sheepdogs (Sheltie’s) – lucky to see both.  Thank you.

    Christine & Bill – Stratford Upon Avon – 9th to 16th June 2018

  • Thanks for a wonderful stay in your comfortable and well equipped lodge which also has such amazing views and bird life in adjacent fields.

Our time in Shetland has been fantastic and blessed with glorious weather.  I am sure we will be making a return trip.

    David & Karen Hassall, Nantwich, Cheshire – 02nd to 9th June 2018

  • It has been lovely to stay at Boitan – comfortable, relaxing and peaceful. Thank you for providing a wonderful base for our 2 weeks here

    Angela & Graham, Norwich – 01st to 13th October 2017

  • We have had a wonderful relaxing holiday, although it was a bit hectic at times.  The accommodation was extremely comfortable.  I think we have travelled most of the island.  The views are spectacular and the beaches were beautiful.  We have packed so much into this holiday.  We can’t wait to get home and put into practice all we have learned.  I hope we will return – maybe next ‘wool week’  Thank you.

    Joyce & Kay – 23rd September to 01st October 2017

  • We had a marvellous stay here at Boitan.  Very comfortable, lovely views and conveniently located.  We enjoyed some memorable walks at St Ninian’s Isle, Mousa, Eshaness and around Cunningsburgh.  The weather was variable but when the sun came out, the island just glowed.  Our favourite walk was up the cliffs from the Lighthouse on Bressay.  We were lucky enough to be here for the Taste of Shetland and really enjoyed sampling and purchasing from the islands’ producers.  Now just to figure out how to get it all home!  The Farm Shop make it easy to grab items we needed and to have a nice tea & cake.  I am so excited about the fleece I bought from you –  can’t wait to get it home to work on!  Thank you for a wonderful stay – we are already plotting our next visit!

Christine Wilkerson – Indiana, USA and Joe & Gerlinde Carey – Texas – 6th to 16th September 2017

  • Our first, and not to be the last, visit to Shetland and what a delightful stay we’ve had.  The accommodation was very comfortable with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.  Everything was first class.  We loved island hopping with visits to Yell and Unst and our highlight was a Shetland wedding in Aith.  Everyone is so very friendly we can’t wait to return.

    Marjorie & Betty & Bertie Robertson – 18th August 2017

  • Great accommodation and every comfort and convenience in this lovely lodge.  We were blessed with wonderful weather (for Shetland)!  A trip down memory lane for my husband and son and a great introduction to the grandchildren.  Hope to be back again!

    Many thanks

Beryl, John, Peter, Morgan & Lilly Durham – Inverness & Norwich – 12th August 2017

  • Our first trip to Shetland and what a great base for visiting the Islands!  Visited many Brochs including Mousa and Holland – but head to Culswick to see the ‘pink’ broch with spectaular views!  Plus wonderful sunny (!) beaches, wildlife, museums and great fish & chips.

Other highlands included rowing a Viking longboat, visiting the Cunninsburgh Show to see sheep, cows & ponies and exploring sea caves.

Already looking forward to our next visit!

    William, Rob & Alice – Chester-Le-Street – 5th to 12th August 2017

  • We’ve really enjoyed our stay at Boitan Lodge.  It’s a quiet, comfortable and well-appointed resting place.

Shetland has been a wonderful revelation and we have barely scratched the surface… so we may well visit it again.

    Our highlights were…

… the cliff walks north from Eshaness Lighthouse (wow!!)

    ….Jarlsoft

…St Ninians (looked down to five orcas below)

    ….Sumburgh Head – where we were Puffined-out!)

….Sands of Breckon (numerous Terns & Gannets)

….hearing live music jam sessions in Lerwick Pubs (Tuesday night at the Marlex, Wednesdays at the Lounge)

(NB Folk music not heavy Shetland metal!)

    Phil & Cathy Lubelska – Cumbria – 5th August 2017

  • Our first visit to Shetland will certainly not be the last!  We enjoyed the puffins at Sumburgh Head, cosy Lerwick, beautiful Scalloway and stunning Eshaness.  And then I even forgot to mention Yell & Unst.  Unforgettable.

Your cottage was a luxurious, well-equipped starting point for all our trips.

We would love to come back.

    Best wishes

    Jan-Joost, Hilde, Pepyr Winsum, Netherlands – 23rd to 28th July 2017

  • Wow!  Thanks for sharing the Islands with us (in a way).  Holsas was the ideal place to come ‘home’ to each and every mind-blowing day of walks and Broch and ruin visits.  Everything was thought of. Everything.  we’ll recommend and return.

    ***Thankyou!!***

Rita Federau, Margot Federau & Joe Kosichek – Toronto, Canada – 23rd to 27th July 2017

  • We have thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days in Holsas –  what a wonderful home from home – everything needed to make a comfortable, enjoyable stay has been thought of and provided! – We could have stayed here much longer!

To have your brilliant Farm Shop and Cafe on the doorstep has been huge bonus – as many people have said, you are serving the best coffee in Shetland, and getting our daily fix of your ‘Aister eggs’ has been a joy.

Continued success to your lodges, and we are both sure that with your hard work and dedication, Mackenzie’s Farm shop & Cafe will become one of Shetland’s most popular attractions.

Can’t wait to return.  Thanks again for your help and consideration.

    Willie & Stella Ross – Inverness – 2nd to 12th July 2017

  • Our holiday in Shetland has exceeded all our expectations!

The weather has been glorious, the scenery breathtaking, the accommodation very comfortable (a prefect base) and the people warm and friendly.

Highlights for us have included (to name a few 🙂 ): the puffins at Sumburgh, kayaking, the Icelandic horses.

    Best wishes

    Scott, Louise, Emma & Lilia Wheeler – Glasgow – 8th to 14th July 2017

  • Splendour of the surroundings matched by the lodge – what a beautiful ‘home’ you have put together. It has been an absolute joy to spend time in such a wonderful part of the world.  Memories of Shetland and its people will remain with us for along time.

    Thank you

    Caroline & Rob Fair – Nottingham – 1st to 8th July 2017

  • To Hazel & Kenneth

Thank you for our lovely two weeks in Boitan Lodge, we love everything about the Lodge and especially the views and the peace and quiet.  The weather has not been too kind especially on our first week, but it did not deter us from getting out and about.  Shetland has so much to offer tor those who enjoy ‘the great outdoors’, and we have tried to do as much as time permits.  The Isles of Yell, Unst, Fetlar, Whalsay, Out Skerries & Papa Stour were all visited and some good walks enjoyed.  Next time we would like to visit Mousa, Isle of Noss, Foula & Fair Isle.

We love your shop and cafe, and I maintain your cafe serves the best coffee on Shetland, without doubt.  May your fortunes continue with unbridled success, you deserve it.

    Best wishes & kind regards.

    Derek & Jacqueline Jones – Tyldesley, Lancashire – 18th June to 1st July 2017

  • To Hazel & Kenneth

A wonderful two weeks at Boitan Lodges enjoying all the varied beauties of Shetland.  In every corner of the Mainland & Islands we met such friendly peoples who were so helpful in providing us with a rich flavour is Island life.  A man from the Skerries came to tend a grave of lost sailor from the Shetland Bus at the Cemetery at Lunna.  The custodians of all the museums for providing us with so much information especially those at Quendale, Tangwick Haa, The Crothouse is S. Mainland & Scalloway & Lerwick.

The deserted beaches on every island were a beachcombers paradise & the cliffs gave so much to a walk.

Thanks for the very generous welcome you gave to us all – the eggs had the yellowist yolks and had a wonderful flavour!

We wish you all the best with your new venture at the cafe/shop.  Having watched the clusters of tradesmen beavering away for the past two weeks, it must be a great relief to finally open – the car park was almost overflowing!

All the best for the future.
